Acoustic improvisations and explorations flowing from artwork and experimental poetry.
Over two days this Sue Lynch and Douglas Benford collaboration is based around performances, incorporating Lynch’s own projected visual art and Colomb’s found text improvisations.
Lynch employs saxophone and flute, whilst Benford uses tenor recorder, accordian, objects and melodica. Performances would encompass accidents and expressions with a multi media slant, as both musicians react to the visual aspects and surreal poetic excursions by Iris Colomb on Day Two.
Stewart Morgan will be recording the performances on Sunday. The concept of Project DIVFUSE curatorial line DIVFUSE Recording Room is to provide an intimate space for live recordings to be carried out, where sound from the outside working yard and the audience might come into the mix.

This is an Open Call for sound based work that may come in the form of: Field Recordings Composition Installation Performance Mixed media Video or a combination of the above
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN THE SUBMISSION:
1) Text on the each piece/series (300 words maximum). This shall include the name, year and duration of the work.
2) Artists’ bio (200 words maximum)
3) A link to the work. It could be a link to Vimeo for example but please do not send us the file to download.
4) Send the submission through by email to divfuse@gmail.com on or before 23 January 2026.
5) Processing Fee (Non-refundable) : £8. Please put your name as reference and transfer the fee to the following account. You may wish to include a screen shot of payment for record:

OTHER CONDITIONS:
1) Up to two proposals can be made by each artist (or group of artists who work together).
2) The work or series of work shall be between 40 and 60 minutes long and can be made up of different pieces/parts. An example would be 20 minutes diffusing recording materials plus 20 minutes performance.
3) Selected work will EACH be shown in multiple screening sessions for a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for free between March and June 2025 at Project DIVFUSE micro digital and multi-media project space, London. There is no payment to the artists but we will offer the following:
* micro gallery space (4m x 2.8m) for exhibition.
* basic equipments for use for the screenings inside the gallery, including 2 x small Genelec speakers on stands, a Genelec subwoofer, a projector and a laptop to play digital file(s) from.
* management of the exhibition including invigilating the space, ticket sales and promotion on social media.
4) Artists whose work is selected will have to make sure that any digital files reach the project space at least a week before the exhibition. Additional information such as images from the work will also be required for social media posting.
5) Artists will be invited to design a poster for their event.
6) Artists who are based in London may be invited to do two sessions of artists talks. Income from the artist’s talk will be split 70/30 between Project DIVFUSE and the artist. This will help to cover some of the overhead costs for running and managing the events.
7) If the work entails performances, again income from ticket sales will be split 70/30 between Project DIVFUSE and the artist.
8) If the work does not require the artist’s presence e.g. only requires diffusion or screening, then all income that may come from ticket sales will go to Project DIVFUSE.
9) No drilling onto the walls is allowed. We can work out other ways of hanging the work if this is required but please bear this in mind when making a submission.

Deconstructed Radio + Channelling Shortwave has been selected from Project DIVFUSE Sound Project Open Call 2026.

‘I have been developing the Channelling project since 2021 in which I present a collection of mechanisms and devices salvaged from discarded and obsolete technology and reanimate them by playing amplified sound through them. This causes the motors to activate in random and unpredictable ways, which I respond to live, amplifying them using various microphones.
Channelling Airwaves was a commission for Deutschlandfunk Kultur in early 2025 which I subsequently adapted for live performance, presented at You and Me Festival, Beijing, China and Echoes without Borders for A4 Art Museum, Chengdu, China.
Also during a residency at Artists House, Pärnu, Estonia last year I developed a series called Deconstructed Radio, two of which are part of a permanent installation in the city and one was presented in Klangmanifeste, Vienna, Austria last year and will be part of a Konnekt event in Geneva, Switzerland this February, where I will create more pieces for the series.

For the event at Project DIVFUSE, Whetham will be presenting a number of Deconstructed Radio pieces in the space, followed by performing a new version of Channelling Airwaves.
Since 2005, Simon Whetham has developed a practice of working with sonic activity. He often uses environmental sound, employing a variety of methods and techniques to obtain unnoticed and obscured sonic phenomena. He explores ways of channelling and transforming energy, and how to salvage and repurpose obsolete consumer technology in kinetic sound works.
He performs and exhibits internationally, participating in A4 Residency Art Center (CN), Chiba City Art Triennale (JP), Som Desorganizado (PT), Klangmanifeste (AT), Noise Istanbul (TK), New Adits (AT), Simultan (RO), Sonica Festival (SI), 28.MFRU (SI), phonon~festival (CZ), NEXT Festival (SK), Fresh Winds Biennale (IS), Klub Katarakt Festival (DE), Nakanojo Biennale (JP), ACC Showcase (KR), Blurred Edges (DE), Tsonami Festival (CL), Madeiradig (PT) and Moers Festival (DE); has a large number of published works; and regularly collaborates with artists of other disciplines.

Frequencies in Motion has been selected from Project DIVFUSE Sound Project Open Call 2026.

Sound artist Rob Parton (Arconic Sound) presents Frequencies in Motion, an installation exploring sound through frequency, repetition, and duration. It brings together a series of audiovisual works titled Frequency States, each centred on a distinct frequency range linked to different modes of attention: Alpha, associated with calm and reflection; Beta, linked to alert focus; and Gamma, connected to heightened attention.
Alongside the installation, the artist will present a series of improvised live performances in quadraphonic sound, responding to the same frequency material. Each unique performance will extend the fixed works through time and space, using synthesis, looping delays, drones, and spatial movement shaped in real time.
Project DIVFUSE is presenting its second off-site event and a first one at The Horse Hospital. Bringing together several artists who have exhibited or performed at Project DIVFUSE micro art space in Lower Clapton E5 since its doors first opened to the public in July 2021, this is an evening to showcase sound inspired films. It is also one of the events to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Project DIVFUSE – an exhibition platform dedicated to sound and multi-media art.
