Merkaba Macabre presents a new audiovisual project that explores colour to sound synthesis for a three-day residency at Project DIVFUSE<\/strong>. The project maps the perceived colour spectrum to the audible frequency spectrum, allowing each color tone to pair with a unique sound tone. These ‘binary tones’ are performed live as quantized patterns across three digital projectors and a 3.1 sound system. Building upon the artist’s previous research in analogue light-based composition, Merkaba Macabre investigates this field in a purely digital process resulting in a triptych audiovisual expanse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merkaba Macabre is a multimedia project by Steven McInerney<\/a>, combining film, digital projection and sound to create experimental films, live audiovisual performances and installations. McInerney’s work draws upon dichotomous energies, meditating between the sacred and profane. His cinematic work explores psychospiritual tropes and altered perception, often blurring the lines between science and fiction. His live performances utilise multi-channel projection and real-time feedback systems to exploit the audience’s awareness of time within the moving image. McInerney is the founder of Psych\u00e9 Tropes<\/a> and collaborative projects include IOME<\/a>, Post Coma<\/a> and Flying Disks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
